are you a pirate ?

Are you a pirate ? used to I guess.

You know that advert on the radio, that say you are a pirate if you buy pirated cd/vcd/dvd and you are no different from the pirated cd/vcd/dvd vendor.

How many of us actually buy original cd/vcd/dvd ?

I’ve to admit that I do buy original cd, that’s before I got streamyx. Actually before I own Cds I have a lot of original cassettes. But I think cassettes then was much different than Cds, then don’t last as long as the original, maybe they do, but I don’t think. Reason I buy original is that I have a somewhat different taste for music. I like to listen to soundtrack, blues, jazz, country & some soul. The only pirated cd I ever so for a soundtrack was for shrek, the closes they got to jazz was Kenny g and that’s like pop. Nothing else. Since my choices was limited then, tower record was the place to find any damn thing. Other than those that I mentioned I have a tendency to listen to something that is not available. Still looking for my Steve Winwood – Back to the high life. Had the cassette, now I want the cd.

Vcd ? no never bought a original one before. That’s old news. Dvd ? yes plenty, but I’m only willing to pay if it is rm8.00 or less, nothing more.

But thanks to streamyx, we’re not pirates anymore right ? we don’t buy pirated cd/vcd/dvd, we just download and play for our own personal pleasure. That cannot be pirate right ? I’ve actually bought original dvd before. It’s was the govt drive then, and some special offer and I wanted to know what’s the difference between original and pirated. I got them for rm59.90 for two and free one. The titles ? crimson tide (yipee), color of money (tom cruise & paul newman, pool hustler) & 1 old sean cannery 007 movie, I think it was from Russia with love.

How was the quality ? something like a dvd 9, but overall its quite the same. Remember that advert by kpdn&hes, I think it’s still showing, about asking you to be a pembeli bijak ? and some kids were buying pirated dvd ? I thought It was crappy, since how smart can you be if you ask ppl to buy original dvd for like rm150++ for 1.

It just don’t make any economical sense to buy original cd/vcd/dvd right ? its rm40++ for cd, rm29.90 for vcd & rm150.00++ for dvd ? I don’t know what kind of quality dvd+r they used, but even a sony dvd r/w cost only rm10.00, how can the cost of copying, royalty, transportation, taxes, etc, etc be rm150.00++.

bottom line is, I wont buy any original cd/vcd/dvd anymore, cause the price I’m paying is making someone else richer, which I don’t think are the artiste themselves.

Long live pirated cd/vcd/dvd peddlers.

Trying to justify something wrong with half-baked excuses that makes no sense.

Typical Malaysian.

its very funny, most of the time when i get negative comments, you can bet it's from a anon.
as typical as you can claim ppl that come out with 1/2 baked excuses are typical malaysian, i can also claim that ppl that criticise others and sign off as anon are typical malaysians as well.
